Happiness would be like ordering economy rice. There are so many ways to go about ordering it – but the perfect plate of cai fan is different for everyone.
Marcus
Happiness is a continuous pursuit, and dissatisfaction often drives us to seek fleeting, superficial fixes. We chase achievements, possessions, and fleeting pleasures, hoping they will bring lasting joy.
Deep down, we know that happiness isn’t something to chase, but something to cultivate from within. How to go about doing it is where we need help, and the premise behind Master Yourself, Master Your Life, a transformational workshop designed to help individuals break free from self-limiting beliefs and step into a more fulfilling existence.
Happening on 16 March at felt sense in Kampong Bahru, the workshop is led by Desmond of Fresh Eyes and Marcus of Happiness for Busy People. Both facilitators bring personal experience to the table: Desmond’s passion for authentic living and Marcus’s journey from corporate burnout to well-being advocacy shape the insights they share.
Through guided exercises, practical strategies, and deep reflection, the workshop encourages participants to take charge of their mindset. Expect to explore ways to silence intrusive thoughts, develop productive habits, and build a life that aligns with personal aspirations.
Whether you’re a high-achieving professional on the brink of burnout, an entrepreneur navigating uncertainty, or simply someone seeking clarity, this workshop offers tools to help you reclaim your inner power.
Getting to know one of the facilitators
To offer a little glimpse into their philosophy on happiness and well-being, we asked Marcus, one of the facilitator of this workshop, a few questions.
If happiness were a food, what would it be and why? Happiness would be like ordering economy rice. There are so many ways to go about ordering it – but the perfect plate of cai fan is different for everyone. Similarly, there are many ways to elevate your wellbeing – but the combination that brings happiness will be unique to each person.
What’s one small habit that has made a big difference in your own life? To pause. As Viktor Frankl has shared, the pause between stimulus response is what makes all the difference when it comes to responding, reframing, and realizing. That pause does so many things – gives you perspective, lets you collect your thoughts, regulates your emotions. And because a pause is literally not doing anything, it’s so understated to pause more often.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice about well-being, what would it be? Wellbeing is efficiency. When we’re flourishing, we achieve so much more with greater ease. We’re so much more productive without experiencing all the negative side effects of overachievement. So no matter how busy you are, take the time to take care of your wellbeing, young Marcus. It’ll more than pay off in achieving all your big plans.
What’s the most unexpected lesson you’ve learnt that you will cover in the workshop? Haha that’s a secret! But if there’s one unexpected lesson, it’ll be about what an ideal life – what your ideal life – really is. It’s not about traveling, money, or even a private jet. It’s about something that already have within us. And it’s something that you can achieve right now, with the right frameworks, without depending on external help.
Describe the workshop experience in three words, and make them fun! Oh my gosh!
